Yoga Bolster Rectangle Purple

If yin yoga is part of your week, a rectangular yoga bolster in purple is a good first prop. It’s 66 x 26 x 15cm, weighs 1.3kg and has cotton batting under a soft microfibre cover. Ten customers have reviewed it, all five stars.

How to use it

Saddle pose is the yin version of reclined hero. Kneel and sit between or on your heels, then lie back onto the bolster placed lengthways behind you. If your knees or lower back protest, raise the bolster with a block or come out of the pose.

In butterfly, bring the soles of your feet together with your knees out to the sides and rest the bolster on your feet or calves. Fold forward and lay your chest or forehead on it.

In caterpillar, sit with your legs straight and lay the bolster across your thighs, then fold forward onto it. Bending your knees a little is fine.

Holds in yin are usually three to five minutes. Having the bolster there means you can rest your weight instead of holding yourself up.

Care

Unzip the microfibre cover and machine wash it on a gentle cycle, then let it air dry before refitting. The cotton-filled inner doesn’t go in the wash; wipe it with a damp cloth if it gets marked.
