Round Bolster Brown

This brown round yoga bolster is a good seat as well as something to lie on. At 24cm across it lifts your hips well above the floor, which is why people who meditate often reach for it instead of a flat cushion. It’s 70cm long, weighs 1.4kg and has cotton batting around a stable centre.

The brown microfibre cover is soft to touch, zips off for washing and has a carry handle. It’s a quiet, earthy colour that sits well in a lounge or bedroom if your practice space is part of the house.

How to use it

To meditate on it, lay the bolster across the mat and sit toward the front edge so your hips are a little higher than your knees. Cross your legs in front, or kneel and straddle it with the bolster running lengthways under you. Sitting on the front edge tips the pelvis forward slightly, which makes it easier to sit upright for longer.

For legs up the wall, put the bolster against a wall, sit sideways on it, then swing your legs up as you lie back. Your hips rest on the bolster and your back is on the floor. Shuffle it a little closer to or further from the wall until your legs rest without effort.

After a session, lie down with the bolster under your knees for a few minutes before you get up.

Care

The cover goes in the washing machine on a gentle cycle. Let it dry before zipping it back on. The inner stays out of the wash, and a damp cloth deals with most marks.
