Yin yoga asks you to stay in a pose for three to five minutes, and a round yoga bolster makes those long holds easier to settle into. This one has a lilac microfibre cover over cotton batting and a stable centre. It’s 70cm long, 24cm across and weighs 1.4kg, so it’s firm enough to lean your weight into.
The cover zips off and goes in the washing machine, and there’s a carry handle on the side.

How to use it
In caterpillar (the yin version of a seated forward fold), lay the bolster across your legs and rest your chest on it. Keep your knees soft if your hamstrings are tight. A second option is to prop the bolster on a yoga block so you have less distance to fold.
In sphinx, lie on your front with the bolster under your chest and upper ribs and rest your forearms on the floor. It takes some of the weight off your arms so you can stay longer.
For butterfly, sit with the soles of your feet together, knees out, and put the bolster lengthways on your feet so you can fold forward onto it. In dragonfly, where your legs are wide apart, stand it on its end or lay it along the floor in front of you and rest your chest on it.
Come out of each pose slowly. After a long hold, lie flat for a few breaths.
Care
Unzip the cover and wash it on a gentle cycle, then air dry. Don’t wash the inner; a damp cloth is enough for marks. Keep the bolster out of direct sun if you want the lilac to stay the same shade for longer.
If you like a deeper shade, the purple round bolster is the same size, and the blue is another option. All the colours are in our yoga bolsters and cushions.

Fantastic bolster, comfortable but really well packed. Would definitely recommend

It’s super firm and probably a tad round for what I originally wanted to use it for – but I still use it for certain restorative poses and I’m guessing it may soften up over time. The handles on the end are super handy though. Also like the colour.
