Bloom Anti Burst Yoga Ball 65cm

The Bloom anti burst yoga ball is a 65cm exercise ball, the size most adults between 165 and 185cm tall use for sitting and floor work. Its surface has raised wave stripes and small bumps, two textures that give your hands and feet more to hold onto than a smooth ball does. It weighs 1.05kg and comes in white, green, brown or red.

Anti burst means that if the ball is punctured it loses air slowly and shrinks, instead of bursting while you’re on it.

How to use it

Plenty of people keep a 65cm ball by the desk and swap between it and a chair during the day. On the ball you make small shifts to stay balanced, so you end up moving more than you would in a chair. It’s also a standard tool for core work: planks with your shins on the ball, bridges with your heels on top, and lying back over it to stretch the front of your body.

When it first arrives, inflate it to about 90 percent, leave it a day to settle, then top it up to full size. Mark 65cm on a wall and roll the ball against the mark to check. Sitting on it, your hips should be level with or a little above your knees and your feet flat on the floor.

Which size?

Bloom makes this ball in 55cm and 75cm as well. People from about 140 to 165cm tall usually suit 55cm, and people from about 185 to 195cm usually suit 75cm. The Swiss ball size guide has the full height chart.

Care

Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Keep it away from heaters, strong sun and rough surfaces like gravel or the edge of a concrete step. An anti burst ball deflates slowly if it’s punctured, but it can still be punctured, so check the floor before you use it outside. If you store it somewhere warm, let a little air out.
